36 Hours in Portland, OR

At least there is free wi-fi at this airport. I'm on my way to Portland, OR, where I have only been once before but totally loved. The weather forecast is rain.

I'm so tired! I think I have a sinus infection. I deluded myself last weekend into thinking that it was either allergies, soap that got up my nose, or lack of humidity, but I have been woozy all week and not fully present, so I'm pretty sure it's a sinus infection now. I should probably be staying home in bed, but I have this trip planned and I really should go. I would enjoy the trip more if I had a little bit of energy.

They gave me a new video camera, to keep!

The ethnography people were great! In addition to listening to me spill my guts about acromegaly, they left me with a video camera to take videos of anything relating to life with acromegaly, and I get to keep the camera afterwards! I thought they were just going to lend me one and ask for it back afterwards. It's a really nice camera- if I had to buy one on the market right now, I would probably choose this exact model.

Isn't it great how I'm getting back into video making? I'm psyched.

Waiting for the Ethnography People to Get Here

And I'm actually kind of nervous about it. I'm not sure how many of them there will be, and I don't know what they're going to ask, what they're going to think of me, etc. We cleaned the house over the weekend so there is a chance that they will believe that we live like normal human beings.

If you don't know what I'm talking about, I signed up to participate in an ethnographic study on people with acromegaly. Basically, there are people trying to find what matters to people with acromegaly, what makes us tick, and how we live.

So these anthropology-type people are going to come over, ask lots of questions, take notes, and look around. I think they might even leave me with a video camera so that I can send them little videos about my life with acromegaly(!). I'm totally psyched about that part.

I'm feeling very optimistic about my acromegaly right now- I'm excited that people are actually interested in it. There's hope and progress.

These just keep getting stupider

(OK, I decided I'm not going to keep posting each video as a post- I just added a little thing on the sidebar with videos.)
